Dixie - Field Kennels is a full service training facility that is operating for the sole purpose of  starting/finishing  walking gun-dogs for the discriminating Shoot-To-Retrieve enthusiast or Foot Hunter. Our staff focuses only on the training and well being of your bird dog.

Whether your dog is only beginning its journey as a bird dog, or just needs some brushing up before hunting season, we have the trainers to meet your needs. We have been training working dogs for over 11 years for hunting plantations and preserves. We have now opened our facilities to the individual who wishes for his/her bird dog to get the private instruction that is required to bring each dog to their utmost potential.

  At Dixie - Field Kennels we utilize a special training process that allows your dog to learn without a lot of pressure. We teach by controlling the situations your Pointer, Setter, Shorthair, Visla, or Brittany is lead into. This allows the dog to move forward at a steady pace that is enjoyable and stress free. The hunting dogs we train learn to respond to our methods rapidly and enjoy the daily sessions we put them through. 

Puppy Program: $450 per month (call for details)

 Formal Training: $550 per month plus $150 for birds

***Progression only occurs as your bird dog learns and understands commands.***

The Fruits of Our Labor

Your bird dog will: Handle like a dream, quarter a field, return to voice & whistle, be steady/staunch on point, and honor/back on sight.

Dixie - Field Kennels will "Force Fetch" to retrieve for an additional $450.00. Your dog will "retrieve to hand" on the "fetch" command, hunt dead, and be soft mouthed. 

****There is a one month probationary period for all dogs. We will inform owners of their dogs progress and determine if training should continue past the first 30 days.****

**** In addition to your monthly training birds, additional birds are $4.25 each and are kept on our grounds at all times. Keep in mind that we want to create a dog that is "BIRD CRAZY" and the only way we can do this is to put plenty of birds in front of him/her.**** 

**** ADDITIONAL SERVICES****

Grooming: $45

Pictures of your dog in training sent to you each month: $15 per month

 Facilities and Health Care

  All dogs are housed in 19 modern chain linked sheltered concrete runs. Each dog has their own private run and house. Our runs are cleaned a minimum twice daily and all waste is disposed of in a septic type system to cut out disease and infection.

 All dogs at our kennels are required to be up to date on DHL, Parvo, Bordatella, and Rabies shots with all external and internal parasites eliminated. We administer Ivomec on a monthly basis to control heartworms and other internal parasites. Should your dog needs its vaccines or any vet services while during its stay with us, we have an excellent veterinarian that has negotiated rates with us. In a non-emergency situation, we will obtain approval before taking your dog; however, you will be responsible for the bill.

 We feed only high quality high protein dog food to all dogs . A substitute feed can be purchased by any dog owner and we will gladly see to it that your dog is fed that particular product.

TRAINING GROUNDS

We have access to 1500 acres to train on. Each tract of land has planted cover (Sorghum, Egyptian Wheat, and Bi-color Lespedeza) , as well as natural cover. Our trainers can put your dog into any type of hunting situation.
